Bio:

Ryan Murgatroyd rose to global prominence when his release ‘Funk Country’ became BBC1 Radio’s “essential new tune” on the legendary Pete Tong’s show. Ryan’s achievements then grew with the success of his duo as Crazy White Boy and their number one hit singles in both South Africa and Portugal, as well as Ryan’s pivotal role as director of education at the Soul Candi Institute of Music. In 2013, Ryan began focusing his intention back on his solo career with his melodic, African-inspired house tracks such as ‘iKalimba (Get Physical Music)’ and ‘Bantwana’s Piano (Defected)’ which usher the listener away from the mundane and introduce a whole new side of house music. While taking inspiration from his South African roots and background with DJ Mag calling ‘Bantwana’s Piano’ “a towering achievement in the landscape of modern house music.” His music has had a huge impact throughout the dance music world, garnering support from key tastemaker artists such as Damian Lazarus, H.O.S.H., Solomun, Lane 8, Patrice Baumel and fellow South African export Black Coffee. Having secured his relationship with Get Physical music he assisted and featured in the release of the first ever ‘Africa Gets Physical’, now an annual compilation series. Ryan is currently working on new material in studio as well as the launch of Ryan’s new collective, Bantwanas, combining African and electronic music. Ryan continues to draw worldwide attention, earning exposure through the likes of Boiler Room, who recorded and streamed his recent set at Amsterdam Dance Event, with this past year seeing him perform at Watergate, Black Coffee’s night at HI Ibiza and others, which has since garnered huge audience support and further recognition for Ryan. His upcoming projects include a three track EP deal with global hitmakers Get Physical in Berlin, with tour dates throughout Africa and Europe, and a continued focus on further development on the Bantwanas collective.
