- Mykel Haze

Mike Haynes AKA Mykel Haze is the new kid on the block but is definitely no stranger to the scene! He cut his teeth in the mid 90s on the Sasha and Digweed Northern Exposure mix compilations and worked his way through the various club nights and events that made the scene what it was back then. Fast-forward to the mid 2000s when his talents and promoting skills caught the eye of Sankeys’ legendary club boss David Vincent. Mike and his long-term friend and partner were approached to help out with a string of parties in the old Soap Bar of Sankeys Soap after proving themselves by holding their own behind the decks with house legends like Masters at Work, Junior Jack and Felix the House Cat. It wasn't long before the club boss offered the lads a bi-weekly residency at the all new Sankeys and eventually their own club night: Disco Electronica. They combined holding this key residency at the world’s No.1 Club, with pioneering the concept night, Disco Electronica, which was one of the UK’s busiest club nights attracting artists like Dubfire, Ben Klock, Radio Slave, DJ Sneak, Paul Ritch, Guti, Tim Green, Jamie Jones and Clive Henry. At the time, House Legends Steve Lawler and Nic Fanciulli commented: “It’s our favourite party to play at in the UK – hands down!”With their unique brand of House and Techno they toured the brand and played headline performances at Tribal Sessions, Ministry of Sound, Open Air festivals, Circo Loco, Amnesia World Tours and the main room at Pacha, Ibiza, plus the main Terrace at Space, for 2 consecutive seasons. Whilst impressing behind the decks, the influence in the studio had also been bubbling away with a string of successful productions and remixes for Great Stuff Music, 54 London, Berwick Street Records, Ambushed and Dubfire's imprint 'SCI+TEC' which catapulted them from the underground into the record boxes of the world's biggest artists including support from Timo Maas, Luciano, Ritchie Hawtin, Marc Romboy, Hernan Cattaneo, Layo & Bushwacka and Sasha who featured one of the remixes on the Pure Pacha guest mix from 2010. Jon Digweed also featured one of the tracks on his famous transitions radio show in 2011. Other news also included an Invite from Marc Romboy to lay down a 60-minute guest mix podcast for Systematic Records radio show going out to over 100,000 subscribers worldwide with artists such as KINK, Kenny Hawkes, Stacy Pullen and Robert Babicz who also had the honour to guest for the ever growing internet radio show. But the collaborations didn't stop there! Under the newly formed Disco Electronica Recordings imprint, projects we're put in place with Vision Quest Recording artist David K, 2020 Vision artists Audiojack, SCI-TEC's Reset Robot, Noir Music's Rekreation and Soma Records artist Saytek (LIVE) who were all confirmed for remix duties on the newly formed label back in 2010. The tracks from the label have already appeared in some of the most respected DJ's charts and mixes including David K, Varo Slav, Chaim, Max Belobrov, James Teej, Jon Digweed and Mekanism to name just a few with more recent support coming from the likes of DJ-T, Maceo Plex, Sischi Rosch, Miguel Puente, Scottie Deep, Droog, Walker and Royce, Darren Emerson, Louie Fresco, Danny Daze, Richie Ahmed...the list goes on. Fast forward to 2012, and with the original night and partnership on hold but the label very much in full swing, there was an urge to move forward with productions. With a handful of new collaborations and solo projects underway, the Mykel Haze alias was born with the first major release 'Computer Love’ being signed to Lee Foss and Jamie Jones’ Hot Creations imprint, which can be found on the Latest Hot Waves Vol.4 Album. Other works include 'People' which will be appearing on the mighty Kaluki VA with the likes of Max Chapman, Kreature, Luca Bear, Romano Alfieri, Horatio and Kaluki front man DJ Ellesse. Further projects in the pipeline include remixes for Saytek's Fabric live show ‘Moondancer’ and more original works with Marco Darko (Hot Creations) and Matt Fear (Nervous Records NYC) for their forthcoming EP By Your Side. With a key party late last year for Hot Creations sharing centre stage with Russ Yalllop, Robert James and wAFF and plenty of new projects happening in the background with tracks being reworked for some of the coolest underground labels in the business, this is very much just the beginning for Mykel Haze... Watch this space!
