After over a decade studying classical and jazz trumpet while performing in ska-punk bands on the side, Buttermere discovered Montreal’s electronic music and nightlife scene in the mid-2000s. It was a revelation. He was quickly drawn behind the decks and into the studio, earning a degree in music technology by day while playing parties in some of the city’s biggest rooms by night. He dabbled in writing his own tracks along the way, but it was only after nearly 10 years of working dance floors that he began to take the craft of composition and production seriously.
