Anthea has a fantastic sound, she blends deep-house, house, techno and minimal with ease, always taking you on a journey. Her skills behind the decks are second to none; she is a charismatic, powerful and versatile dj who knows how to entertain her audience. Mr. C quoted recently… “This girl has really got the groove. Anthea delivers nice, long drawn out mixes, with great work of the EQ’s creating that third – track in the mix. Her subtlety oozes soul and sophistication that most of her male counterparts can only wish for. Her music selection is deep and funky, yet totally cutting edge. Many female Dj’s use their sex as a gimmick, not Anthea; this girl’s the genuine article. Watch the rise
and rise of a true star”.
ALEX CELLER
With his energetic and intense tech house sound, full of swing, tribal rhythms & beats, Alex is said to be probably the most promising of upcoming producers & DJs in the scene. Greek by right, but a Londoner by choice, Alex Celler (Alexandros Berdos) was born in Thessaloniki, Greece. In 2004 he moved in London where he based his studio and
since then it has been a story of hard work and righteous success.
His distinctive style and dedication to music has helped him establish his sound well into the electronic scene, that’s why his productions have been supported & championed continuously by a wide range of big DJs starting from
Ricardo Villalobos, Loco Dice, and RRP Soundsystem to Dennis Ferrer, DJ Sneak, Masters At Work,to name a few.
Because of his impressive production skills some of the most original record labels in the business such as Cocoon,
Tuning Spork, Area Remote, Cecille, Freak N Chic, Buzzing Fly & Cinematic have released and licensed his productions and remixes over the past years. Well known in the scene as a purveyor of DJ-friendly dancefloor orientated records, with an astonishing range or productions, he has also been providing music in different moods under the alias
“Kemistry” as well as with his collaborations with Anthea as “Anthea & Celler”.
Alex’s DJ style - similar to his own productions most of which he plays out - is an impressive blend of rare old and
modern tracks, ranging from house to techno, infused with tribal rhythms & pumping, deep basslines. He has a
precise intuition for the right record on the dancefloor and his DJ sets are full of mood changes, creating an
atmosphere which grabs the listener to the very last record. Alex has been featured as a guest DJ in the most famous of London's nightclubs like Fabric, T-Bar, The End, Canvas and East Village and he is also DJing around the UK and Europe consistently.
EP COMMENTS
The words “hot new talent” are bandied around frequently but Anthea and Alex Cellar are truly deserving of any such
plaudit as their “The Playmaker” release on Freak n’ Chic proves.
Separately, the duo have seen their stock rise considerably with releases for Area Remote and Phonica making all the right moves, but together their close friendship has yielded some outstanding material set to drop for Cecille, Tuning Spork and of course, Freak n’ Chic.
‘The Playmaker’ is exactly what you’d expect from a superb soundmaker and one of London’s finest house djs; a
rolling, simplistic and bottom heavy cut punctuated with vox effects in just the right places. Despite being sparse, the track is warm, rounded and rhythmic which makes for a great peak time Houser.
Flipside duties are handed to Dyed Soundorom, a man who is fast becoming one of the nubreed of house producers
garnering attention from all quarters. His remix is typical of his work; smooth, airy and all about the groove. More laid back than the original, his interpretation uses call and response rhythms to drive things forward while carefully placed dropouts and the originals vox samples provide the hooks.
This is yet another killer for Freak n’ Chic who have a seemingly endless stream of quality house music to offer, but the real attention should be placed on Cellar and Anthea – two artists with a serious future..
