New Yorker Mike Saint-Jules is currently surfing a wave of brilliant production work. Surface is his follow up to the very well received Cloud Surfing and is a more stripped back offering; at least that's what you initially suspect when you first hear it. The track is built upon a super cool bassline and tight techy percussion. Towards the end of the intro, wailing synths call out to the breakdown which arrives in all it's blissful glory. This is suddenly in anthem territory, the long warm chords wash over you until the drop which is yet again a pleasant surprise. Once again MSJ wins the battle of squeezing in melody, danceability and a few twists. We like it creative!
