It will be difficult for Vintage and Morelli to surpass 2016, a year that included the release of his internationally acclaimed debut artist album, "My Rose Enchanted Destiny," as well as various Above and Beyond-supported singles. Yet, as the Belgrade-based sensation prepares to embark on various global tour dates, including a mini-tour of Australia, he thrillingly presents "Awaken," his first new single of 2017 and his most recent collaboration with celebrated singer-songwriter Arielle Maren. Not surprisingly, the track once again demonstrates VandM and Arielle's breathtaking musical chemistry. Vintage and Morelli wastes no time in asserting his many gifts: in the early going, a deep, emotive, almost "exotic" soundscape sits behind an infectious groove. (The dynamic beat would elicit involuntarily head-bobbing from the most rhythmically rigid listener.) At the quarter turn, following a series of teaser vocal stabs, Arielle's heartfelt opening verse enters the mix. Her gift for writing intelligent and introspective lyrics is once again on display, not to mention her achingly beautiful vocal delivery. The deep, mysterious mood of the song's patient and introductory build eventually gives way to an anthemic chorus, led by Arielle's interrogative refrain, "Who Will Save The Day?" Vintage and Morelli responds by unleashing melodic fury, courtesy of a euphoric, stadium-rocking drop.
