Michalis Fasoulas, aka mikael fas, was born in Heraklion, Crete. His first encounter with a musical instrument occured in the age of 8 and it involved the traditional 3-string "lyra". Growing up, he became fond of the sound of electric quitar. Self-taught, he entered the local music scene becoming the guitarist of various rock groups, with the progressive metal genre being the one he became most accustomed to. "Mindscape" was the name of the progressive metal band he co-created, publishing a demo release entitled "Utopia of Balance" in 2004. During these gain years, he got heavily influenced by progressive rock bands, like King Crimson, Rush, Yes and Van der Graaf Generator, while in the years to follow, he also got involved with music genres like krautrock, post rock, indie, alternative
