- Benjamin Shock

An artist strongly influenced by the mid 90’s house and techno music. He fell in love with electronic music in his early age. Growing up in the Slovenian coastal area, where the clubbing scene was in a major rise, which had an enormous impact on his work. In the year 1998 he started hanging out at a local radio station, where he got introduced to tons of music genres, which helped him evolve his musical skill as well as improve his sound production. After a while, he started playing on turntables, where he found his passion and talent for mixing. His next step was to play house and techno music on a weekly radio show. It didn't even take him long to start composing his own tunes and producing his own label songs. Later his first house record track ''Get Down'' was released on vinyl and digitally imported by the german house label Discogalaxy, which led to a series of events that brought him to where he is now. At some point later, he teamed up with his well known friend Gramatik and they started making music together. A various mixture from hip hop beats to house grooves influenced by Chichago and Detroit beat artists. Benjamin also has a big reputation on the Slovenian hip-hop scene, as a beatmaker and a well known producer. He produced several hip-hop albums for some of the major Slovenian underground hip-hop artists such as Drill and 5. Element and helped out with the Velebor record for the slovenian Wudisban records house. Gramatik and Shock formed up a duo project under the name “Fatnatikz” which was based on electro / funk / house music. His style is a variation of deep, jackin and funky tech-house and french house beats. His dj sets are very dynamic and pumping.. He released tracks for labels like King Street Sounds, Guesthouse music, Neptuun city, Colorecordings, Flapjack and 1st rate music. His releases are often seen on top 100 charts on Traxsource, Beatport, Juno and other worldwide charts. Tunes like ''Hands Up'' released on Neptuun City was also supported by Uroš Umek in his famous ''Behind the Iron Curtain'' radio show (http://soundcloud.com/umek/btic_070), which was a good reference for his further work. In the year 2012 he released a new track called “Midnight mission” which was released on the Guesthouse music label. The track was chosen from Traxsource as a top 100 selling record of 2012 in the Jackin’ House category. His latest successful release was a deep house track made in collaboration with Yan, named “Choices” from the Groove Foundation EP released on King Street Sounds / Street King and came up to 3rd place in the top 10 jackin’ house tunes chart. We must not forget about the amazing collaboration he did with a well known Slovenian singer named Anika Horvat. With the help of his knowledge of the electronic genres and her wonderful singing voice they made a song named Save the animals. The most successful remix was made for Cevin Fisher, “You Changed My life” which also came on to the top 10 chart on Traxsource label. In the year 2009 he remixed some old school ghetto house tracks from the Paris Mitchell Project feat. Waxmaster, “Ghetto Shout Out”, which was originally played by Daft Punk on BBC radio 1 essential mix in 1997. Benjamin Shock's remix came on to 35th place on the Beatport top 100 electro house chart. Another great remix was a classic, from Brandon Plank vs House Master Boyz “House Nation”. Overall his work says more than a thousand words and even after all this time Benjamin stayed true to his unique sound and production. He always delivers and does, what has to be done behind the turntables with a lot of background knowledge about production, tracks and mixing. This, with a combination of good references and chart listings makes him a real crowd pleaser and we can't deny otherwise.
